Bastille Day San Francisco 2019 is a unique event in many ways. We are an open and friendly organization that is dedicated to welcome everyone living in the Bay Area to THIS CELEBRATION. The Official Committee relies on donations and talents from the French-American community. We were founded more than one hundred years ago by people who CONTRIBUTed significantly to the history of San Francisco.

the Bastille Day festival is open to the general public to enjoy food, drinks, music and be exposed to French culture. It is a unique opportunity for volunteers to have fun and meet interesting people.

In return for becoming part of our community VOLUNTEERS will receive a t-shirt, A parking pass and an invitation to a social gathering of volunteers.

Volunteer shifts are scheduled to be 3 hours and volunteers must work a minimum of 3 hours. We encourage you to do as many as you're willing! Please give us a sense of what you might be interested in. 

Volunteer Meeting: Tuesday July 9th at 6:30pm at Alliance Française San Francisco, 1345 Bush Street, San Francisco, CA 94109 (Discuss assignments, schedules and general information about Bastille Day)

The Official Committee is looking for 40+ volunteers on saturday July 13, 2019 between 7 am to 9 pm. Please apply if you are interested to :
(NN): Number of volunteers expected
SHiftS: 5 PERIODS OF 3 HOURS. 7AM-10AM, 10AM-1PM, 1PM-4PM, 4PM-7PM, 7PM-10PM
  • Setup Crew (10), 7am to 10am, 1 shift.
    • Assist in the setup of booths, some heavy lifting may be involved.
  • Coffee and Pastry waiter (2), 7am to 10am, 1 shift.
    • Serving Coffee and Pastries to volunteers before opening
  • Security Team Assistants (3), 10am to 7pm, 3 SHIFTS
    • Work with one of 6 Security officers; Monitor one of 4 entry points to the plaza ensure no one leaves with an open alcoholic container or comes in with own beer/wine.
  • Beverage booth - BeeR WAITER (4), 10am to 7pm, 2 SHIFTS
    • Must be 21 or older. You will be assigned a booth to pour either wine or beer. YOU WILL BE REQUIRED TO SIGN A DISCLOSURE/HOLD HARMLESS AGREEMENT, and ATTEND ORIENTATION ON JULY 11TH.
  • Beverage booth - Wine WAITER (4), 10am to 7pm, 2 SHIFTS
    • Must be 21 or older. You will be assigned a booth to pour either wine or beer. YOU WILL BE REQUIRED TO SIGN A DISCLOSURE/HOLD HARMLESS AGREEMENT, and ATTEND ORIENTATION ON JULY 11TH.
  • Floaters (8), 10am to7pm, 2 SHIFTS
    • Used for any tasks needed during the festival including break time support for vendors.
  • Distribution (4) 10am to 7pm, 2 SHIFTS
    • Service booths throughout the day with supplies: glasses, ice, cases of water etc. 
  • Information Booth (6), 10am to 7pm, 2 SHIFTS
    • Run the booth; Inform Exhibitors, vendors, volunteer, musicians and distribute parking passes  as instructed. Direct the crowd AND DISTRIBUTE FESTIVAL PROMOTIONAL MATERIALS AROUND THE PLAZA
  • Kids playground (4), 10AM TO 7PM, 2 SHIFTS
    • Information and orientation to parents (no child care duty)
  • ​Zero Waste Team (6), 10AM TO 7PM, 2 SHIFTS
    • Zero Waste team volunteers are leaders in helping attendees, artists and crew to Leave No Trace, one of our founding principles. A Zero Waste team member is expected to represent Bastille Day principles of environmental accountability and sustainability.
  • WAITERS' RACE (9), 2PM TO 4PM, 1 SHIFT
    • SIDELINE JUDGES, RACE STARTERS, TRAY PREPARATION, CLEAN-UP VOLUNTEERS
  • Green Room Hosts and runners (2), 1Pm to 7pm, 2 shifts
    • As Green Room Host, your ability to anticipate the needs of our performers will be key! Your main role will be to provide the requested items in artists riders to the stages, prior to their scheduled set times.
  • FINAL CLEAN UP CREW (10) 7PM TO 10PM, 1 SHIFT
    • ASSIST WITH FINAL CLEAN UP OF THE PLAZA. SOME HEAVY LIFTING MAY BE INVOLVED.
